Wild Sign Lorenz to NHL Entry Level Contract

The Minnesota Wild have signed former Edge School student-athlete Rieger Lorenz to an NHL Entry Level Contract.

Lorenz joined Edge for the 2018/19 CSSHL U15 Prep season, leading his team with 25 assists and 36 points in 30 games. The Kootenay Ice would select the Calgary, AB forward in the fourth round, 68th overall at the 2019 WHL Draft.

He would return to Edge for the 2019/20 U18 Prep season, earning CSSHL Top Freshman Award honours after finishing second in league scoring with 78 points in 33 games.

Lorenz would join the Okotoks Oilers in 2020/21, recording 85 points in 60 games during the 2021/22 season as he was named to the AJHL (South) All-Rookie and All-Star Teams, the AJHL Rookie of the Year, CJHL Top Rookie, and the CJHL Top NHL Prospect.

At the conclusion of that impressive season the Wild would select Lorenz in the second round, 56th overall at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

In 2022/23 Lorenz joined the NCAA with the University of Denver, posting 9 points in 37 games as a Freshman. The following season he would be named to the NCAA (Championship) All-Tournament Team as he won his first National Championship with Denver. That season he would record 30 points in 44 games.

During the 2024/25 season he posted 20 points in 44 games with Denver. This past season he would record a career high 35 points in 43 games as he won his second National Championship with Denver. In the process, Lorenz would be named to the NCAA (Championship) All-Tournament Team and to the NCAA (NCHC) All-Tournament Team.
