GAME DAY RECAP: September 26, 2025

Edge School (4/OT) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U15

A bounce back for Edge School’s U15 contingent seemed necessary; three home games all ended in defeat to open their season last weekend, now facing down back-to-back battles with OHA Edmonton on the road. The hosts played once on opening weekend, falling 6-3 to the same NAX squad that bested Edge 8-2 last Saturday. Edge and OHAE played a more even head-to-head matchup; Edge led by two through two thanks to goals from Kyden Brockman (1G, 1A) and Josh Pomeroy, but OHA Edmonton’s third period saw them mount an impressive comeback. Josh Fenske and Niko Vujanic pulled the game back to 2-2, but the game remained tied for just 80 seconds, and Gio Niven’s goal gave Edge their lead back. Vujanic wasn’t done, though, and scored on a power play to tie things up and send the game to overtime. OHA Edmonton hadn’t led in the game, but eventually prevailed in the extra period. After a scramble in front of the net, XX found the puck and slotted it home on the backhand. OHA Edmonton prevailed 4-3 in overtime, giving them their first win of the season.

South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6) U15 Prep

Two second-period goals from South Alberta Hockey Academy’s Kovann Chisholm led them to a 6-2 victory in their season opener last night, with SAHA’s four games in four nights starting with a win over Notre Dame. RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg on Friday was game 2, with RHAW having yet to start in the U15 Prep division this season. Despite the lack of game action thus far, RHA Winnipeg hit the ground running. A pair of quick-fire first-period goals from Ryder MacLean and Easton Pitz gave RHAW a 2-0 lead into the second period. Carter Jarvis scored to pull SAHA back into the game, which stood as the only goal of the second period to send SAHA into the third with a great chance to stay in the game. Jarvis’ efforts were added upon at the start of the third from SAHA goaltender Cole Anderson (46/52), whose efforts kept SAHA in the game early in the third period. Max Thielen took his chance to pull SAHA into a tie game, but from there, it was RHAW’s night. Max Sanders scored a go-ahead goal just over one minute after Thielen’s tying strike. From there, it was the Declan Champagne (2G) show. He first scored a shorthanded goal to make it 4-2, finishing an excellent rush with a backhand finish, and not long after, found himself on another shorthanded break. Champagne took a slash and scored on the ensuing penalty shot. Brady Piec would add yet another shorthanded goal from RHAW in the third period to put things to bed, helping his team prevail by a 6-2 scoreline.

Bishop’s College School (4) vs Rothesay Netherwood School (2) East U18 Prep

The start of Rothesay’s Netherwood school was a four-in-four last weekend that saw them win all four, prevailing in the latter two by a combined 13-1 score in wins over Mount Academy and King’s Edgehill School. Bishop’s College School, conversely, will play only this solitary game in September, awaiting next weekend’s three games in three nights to really get their season going. Rothesay’s dominance through the early stages indicated they’d be an extremely hard opponent for Bishop’s to face in game one, but BCS fought hard for a positive start to their season. Luca Stasi (2G, 1A) scored ten seconds prior to the halfway mark of the second period for Bishop’s first goal of the season. The first lead lasted a mere 22 seconds; Cameron Spurrell scored quickly to tie things up. The tying goal looked to catapult Rothesay into control, with RNS looking to extend their four-game winning streak. Bishop’s fought hard to prevent falling into a deficit, eventually being rewarded for their efforts. Gavin Rusenstrom and Taitt Dobbin scored a goal apiece for BCS before the second period wrapped, putting Rothesay into a two-goal hole through forty minutes. Killian Alves Pereira pulled RNS back into the game in the third period, and following a Dominic Schnarr cross-checking penalty late in the third, Rothesay had a last-ditch powerplay to attempt to force overtime. With 27 seconds to go, however, it wasn’t Rothesay; it was Bishop’s to strike the telling blow. Luca Stasi scored his second of the game shorthanded, with Stasi finishing his first game of the season with two goals and three points. Tyler Fuicelli made 29 stops in the victory, handing Rothesay their first loss of the season.

North Shore regained the lead late in the frame as Jessica Blodgett and Taylor Siemens countered with their first tallies of the 2025/26 season. OHA Black attempted to mount a comeback in the third but a Morgan Ghag power play goal that brought her team within one came too late, beating Haylie Hedges (25/27) with just 10 seconds left. Another power play goal from Darwin Ketch (1G, 1A) and an even strength goal by Asher Devries (1G, 1A) 27 seconds later gave Shawnigan a 4 goal cushion heading into the final minutes. Carsen Domarus would get Wenatchee within striking distance with 4:15 remaining but that was as close as they would get as Liam Chamberlain (24/28), who stopped a penalty shot in the first, finished with 24 saves for the win.

The Pilot Mound power play would give them hope late in the third as Edin Korajac and Brock Vodden scored on the man advantage 41 seconds apart. However, Luke Van Waes secured the win for Edge, finding the back of the net with 4:01 left. Cohen Spencer (20/23) made 20 saves for the win while Gage Romanchuk (30/38) faced 38 shots in the loss.
